Pros & Cons
- The Maxxis Rekon is an allround tyre suitable for forest and sandy surfaces and very technical descents over tree roots and rocks.
- The EXO Protection in the Rekon's sidewall ensures good protection against sharp objects.
- The Tubeless Ready technology makes it easy to switch to a tubeless setup with 90 ml of latex sealant per tyre.
- The Maxx Terra technology is more durable and provides more traction than MaxxSpeed.
- The Rekon is less suitable for really muddy conditions.
- Tubeless sealant should generally be topped up every 3-6 months.

Description
Description
Maxxis Rekon 3C Maxx Terra EXO MTB tyres are fast and aggressive in handling. These Maxxis Rekon mountain bike tyres really come into their own in technical cross-country and trail disciplines. With the fast and wide stud profile across the center of the tread, you have a lot of control when accelerating and braking. The L-shaped studs on the sidewalls of the tyre allow you to carve through corners at lightning speed. In short, this tyre combines speed with grip, so that you wipe the floor with the most technical courses.
The 3C MaxxTerra is the Maxxis' medium rubber compound. The 3C MaxxTerra is softer and offers more traction than the MaxxSpeed, but is also more durable and faster than the MaxxGrip. This gives you the best of both worlds.
EXO Protection
The EXO Protection is a wear-resistant protective layer in the sidewall of the tyre. This protective layer offers excellent protection against cuts from the side. The tightly woven material of the protective layer keeps the tyre lightweight and extremely flexible so that performance is not negatively affected.
Tubeless Ready
The Maxxis Rekon 3C MaxxSpeed EXO TR is suitable for tubeless. This allows you to ride the tyre without an inner tube. This has all kinds of advantages. The main benefits are lower rolling resistance, more grip, control and extra comfort.

The ideal (pre)band for Dutch tracks
- Robert 8 July 2023
Perfect tyre for here in the Netherlands, but also Luxembourg Millarthal is fine to ride. Just a bit more profile than the Rekon Race. Absolutely better casing than the Schwalbes: you don't roll away on these in corners. The MaxxSpeed compound is the sweet spot of the Maxxis compounds. And get the 2.4 width.
Pros & Cons
Easy to get on the rim
Grip/traction
Low rolling resistance
Not for muddy autumn and winter
